What Disney Princesses Look Like in the Cartoons vs the Live-Action Versions

August 2024 · 2 minute read

Disney has already released 20 live-action adaptations of its own animated movies, and 4 more will be released in 2023 and 2024. When it comes to the beloved Disney princesses, some have already made the jump to the real world, giving us a chance to see a brand-new version of a dear childhood character.

Ariel — The Little Mermaid (1989) and The Little Mermaid (2023)

Belle — Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Jasmine — Aladdin (1992) and Aladdin (2019)

Cinderella — Cinderella (1950) and Cinderella (2015)

Mulan — Mulan (1998) and Mulan (2020)

Aurora — Sleeping Beauty (1959) and Maleficent (2014)

Snow White — Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and Snow White (2024)

The live-action adaption of Snow White is set to be released in 2024, and it will star Rachel Zegler in the role of the princess herself and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. At the time of writing, there are no sneak peeks into how the actress will look in character, so we can only imagine it based on her most acclaimed role yet as Maria in West Side Story (2021).

Bonus: Tinker Bell — Peter Pan (1953) and Peter Pan & Wendy (2023)

Tinker Bell was briefly part of the Disney royal family as she, too, was officially consideredprincess. However, she gained a new title when the Disney Fairies franchise started in 2005.
